The bite was on Saturrday night. Ended up catching apporximately 15 fish total. Missed several others and lost a couple at the boat as well.
I fished everywhere from abot 1 mile north of 42 to the damn. Up in the river only produced a couple of bites and just to the south of 42 produced a few bites. The best results were right int he middle section.
On a very, very bright note, I did end up catching 2 flatheads. One down south and one up north. Here are a couple of pics.
The first one is 16lb. The second one was approx 5lb.
Worst part of the deal, was... no tourney. I can never do this good when fishing a tourney at Oshay. My bes 8 were approximatley 50lbs. great night of fishing. Can't wait to go again! |

Good catch. I was told there were some Flatheads in there. Were they deep or shallow?
Someone caught a 40# Flathead up here at Knox Lake.
Of course, It's always someone else. |

Well, they are definitely in there. I imagine there are some pushing 30lbs, just a matter of finding them.
The first and larger of the 2 fish was caught in the north end. I was anchored in the channel, approx 10ft of water and I was floating a cork by some structure, which I would guess was in about 6' of water. I had my cork set about 5' using a 4" bluegill. It never took the cork under. In fact I thought something spooked my blue gill. It swam back and forth and then started swimming away from me. I got a little tension on the line and finally realized it wasn't the blue gill.
The second flattie was also caught on a blue gill. I wasn't too far from the sail boat club and I casted out between a brush pile and dock when first arriving. I was baiting up my other pole looked back and the cork was gone. Low and behold, another flattie. I was sitting in about 15ft of water here and I was csating in towards shore. My guess is that they are getting ready to spawna and they are in and around structure. I was told surface temps were approaching 75-78 depending on what part of the lake you are in.
I'm hopin the first one is holding in the same spot and in the biting mood on Saturday. Either that or there is a big female there now. A guy can hope can't he, LOL!
Chuck, hope to see you and Tomkatt there. As of right now, we already have 13 preregistrations, so we are much farther ahead than we have been at the tourneys so far. It is looking like we will surpass the 20 team mark. Hopefully close to 25. Are you guys coming out Jammer. I was very excited to see you guys do well last tourney! |
