Hello guys! I have been asked by some guys about putting together a trip to the Ohio river for some catfishing. I am thinking that if a few of us with the larger boats got together, we could get some of the guys who have never fished the river a chance to check it out. Anybody interested? Very Happy

I'm planning a trip to the Ohio when the water starts to warm. Thinking about going to Forked Run State park, and taking my boat on the river. Still some way off and I'll probably go during the week since I have a strange schedule. I'll keep an eye out for any of your plans, always like to go to the river.

I can take a couple of guys on board my boat, downtown Cinci. is awesome during cold water periods and up near the Meldhal dam is great in and around the New Richmond area is one of my favorite places to fish.

I can take 3 guys comfortably on my boat. As far as when, we can watch the river levels over the next couple of weeks and plan accordingly. Doc is right about the cincy area early bite. Awesome! Also Doc has a catfishing seminar coming up next friday at the Huber Hieghts Gander store(I think). It should be a real informative event.

Were going down in August to fish with Dale Broughton (ohio river guide). Ive been Catting seroiusly now for 3 years and have yet to land a Flathead (Its killing me!), So if you all still want to go lets set a date.

We have not set up a trip yet. If you are going out with Dale you WILL get a flathead. Dale is an excellent guide and a good guy. I went on a charter with him 8 years ago. Make sure you tell him Chuck said hello. I have not talked with him in a couple of years. What time in august are you going down?

It was a 20 lb drum... I mean flathead. We caught good numbers of fish. that trip was in the spring. I went out with Dale in late august one night and landed over 30 fish. You will probably be fishing the downtown cincy area. Lots of fish in there. Dale is a guy who will work his tail off to get you on fish. You will not be dissapointed.. You have a real shot at a 25lb+ fish so good luck!!

I am still game, I would actually like to get Dale's number if we can't get anyhting together. I know my summer is pretty well jam packed, but if someone has a date, let me know and I will see if I can work it in.

Dales number is 513-231-7116. At least it was the last time I talked to him. September will probably be the time to hit the river up. Most of the pleasure boater traffic will be gone. The Flats will be active and the blues will be more aggresive. I know I can take 3. Mike, I know you are underpowered on your pontoon but if we went out of Tanners creek you are only a mile away from some fantastic fishing areas. Tomkatt and I have caught a LOT of fish within a couple of miles of Tanners creek. The river is not as daunting as some people think. I have been on the river in a 14ft jon boat in choppy water and never felt concerned.
