| Hello everyone. After the snowstorm saved me from some landscaping chores, I decided to plan for a couple of new catfish hunts closer to the homestead. I have fished below greenlawn dam on the scioto for saugeye and white bass in the past. I remember that almost every spring someone lands a big 20lb+ flathead below the dam. I have access to that stretch of river below the dam and am thinking of trying my luck in the spring out of a small jonboat. Has anybody had any luck in that part of the scioto? |

Not too sure, although Mike and I often joke that you can catch anything you desire at Greenlawn. It must have some mystical powers because every time we are out fishing and get to talking to some of the other fisherman out we always hear stories about Greenlawn...."man I caught 50 crappie... I was teraring up the channel cats....caught a huge flatty, and on and on!
After all the stories I've heard it cant hurt to try! |

| Yeah! I here the same thing. I live close to greenlawn and have access to the river about 6 miles south of it behind my workplace. I really need to hit it up this spring and see whats really in there. |

Mike and I used to fish farther north on the scioto quite a bit for smallmouth during the summer and always did well, Below Griggs dam near the fridbie golf course and south of O'Shay dam. Pretty good wading and a great way to keep cool.
You may also want to try the Big Darby, I've fished for smallies there quite a bit but only a couple times for catfish although I've been told and seen some pictures of some pretty monster flatheads. One time we were canoeing the Big D. and Mike hooked into something pretty big, now he will swear that it had to be a flathead, but I bet it was probably just a tree, LOL Right Mike!! |

| You are right about the darby. I used to smallie fish around Fox years ago and the locals told me about big flatheads being caught in the spring when the scioto gets high and the creek backs up. |

Two Things!
1. Greenlawn is the greatest fishing on the face of the earth... Or so i've heard form about evey fisherman i've talked to. LOL! Kevin hit the nail on the head there. I've never fished below the dam. We have fished above the greenlawn dam the last few Red, White and Booms. You can get a boat in pretty easy. We haven't caught much outside of a bullhead, largemouth, channel, and smallie, but they also don't let you get close enough to the next low head dam up. i image the bite could be pretty good there.
2. That was most definitely a flathead. I suppose it could have been a rally big channel. That baby came right out of that stump after my artificial craw. It did the classic catfish roll and BAM, right back in the stump. I ewven tried noodling, but it wrapped me up and got off. That really got the heart going! |

| Just had another thought. Wher is the discharge for the water treatment facility. I am assuming that ther had to be some kind of discharge. If so, I'll betcha there are some good fish stacked up in the warmer water. |

| That's a WASTE water discharge. After really heavy rains, when the sewers get full, they fill up those huge tanks on the hill ( east side) and if it's still too much for the sewers to handle, it exits the gates below the dam until the level in the sewers subsides. Columbus is trying to separate the storm from the sanitary sewers. Very costly projects for the taxpayers though. |

Never seen too much at Greenlawn, except for wine-o's and rats!!!
