There is nothing to be embarassed by. Nothing is wrong with a boat like yours and you can put a lot more more in your pocket when you win because you don't have to pay for gas. I fished a tournament once in a canoe and paddles around everywhere. Just have fun and enjoy the experience. Take the time to learn from everyone there. _________________ Northeast Ohio Catfish Angler's Tournament Series

Right there with you Neo. I didn't have the pontoon for a while and I havce fished a few tournaments out of a 14ft canoe with a trolling motor mounted ont eh back. It wasn't bad for the first couple of hours, but bleacher but set in after that and it was pretty misearble. Try cast netting out of one. If only we had a video camera.
Blue, just come out and enjoy it. We have all kinds of boats and of course those without boats. Just be sure to have lights, etc... for safety, but you will be fine with the trolling motor. There were a coulpe of teams last year that had similar setups. This tournament is more about a bunch of guys and some gals having a good time. It is competitive, but I think everyone would agree that they just enjoy watching the fish being weighed in and if they are lucky enough, they may just have a chance to win it. |

Oh yea man youll be fine, We ran 6 or 7 tourneys last year with a 14 ft old beat up 1963 aluminum semi vee trolling motor alone, and will be doing it again this year unless a motor falls in my lap. Neo's right think of the $ youll save with gas at 3.40$ a gallon. I would advise 2 batterys for sure 1 for lights and aceesories and 1 for the motor and dont try to go too far, made that mistake 1 time last year and had to be towed in ( that was embarasing ). There are good cats all through that river. Also I dont know if you run a fishfinder but it really helps when your running a trolling motor, not only to find depth and water temp but to monitor battery levels. Good luck hope to see ya there. _________________ Baitcasters are junk! |

First tournament I ever won I was at Deer Creek in a Coleman Crawdad with a trolling motor. Best feeling in the world pulling up to the ramp next to those bigger boats and watching their jaws drop. 11 years ago and I still have that trophy on my dresser |
