Okay, I keep checking for an update for tournament results and I'm still yet to see them. Dave and I hated to miss the last one and I may even have to miss the next one. I'm really getting tired at looking at our ugly faces on the tournament main page.
Thanks

Congratulations, on the win!
I see you "traded up" on your fishing partners...
I should try that
Just ribbin' ya Kev -
Cngrats to the Funk Bros, & the Hughes.
And of course to Doc & Lynn for the big fish of the night. 4.6 is a respectable fish in central Ohio! Plus it paid for the trip! |

Hey Mike,
How many teams showed up and what did 1st and big fish pay out? Just curious what Dave and I missed. From the chatter on OGF it sounded like possibly a larger field.
Dave, I told you yesterday you better look into "trading up" for the next one cause I don't think I can make it.

Thanks guys, my regular partner couldn't make it so Lynn filled in, 2 times now I have had the big fish and we were fishing for just Flatheads, my goal is to bring a big one to the scales this year.
Big fish payed out $120.00 bucks, we had 2 bites and 2 fish all night long, long , long night for sure, bet we hit 15 different spots, started out on the North end and ended up on the south where we caught our fish.
Congrats to first, second and third place finishers.
Always check your fish in cause you just never know what might win this thing, it ain't over till it's over................Doc |

Nice Job on the win mike, guess we wernt the only ones that had a slow night, by the 3rd place total. MAN I wish now we woulda weighed in, We came back to the docks about a half hour early and threw our 3 fish back, thought we had no chance and we were just frustrated at a tough night of fishing. Outta of the 3 fish we let go, one weighed in at 4#2oz. on my berkley digi scale and the other 2 went probally around 2 lbs apeice. Man did we learn a lesson! We woulda definatly been close to 3rd place and close to big fish also, Thats OK we will be back to fight another night. Going out tonight to Alum, ill post a report if we do anygood.
One other ? for Doc. Whats the difference between when you target channels vs. targeting Flats? I mean I know flats prefer live bait vs. cut, but you caught all those big boys on cut bait down at the Duracats tourney , right? And considering we like using live shad for channels also, is spot selection the difference, Rigs, Depths, just curious. Thanks Steelwolve _________________ Baitcasters are junk! |

Steelwolve,
Mainly I target them with big large baits, we were using Shad that were 10 inches in length, the 4#er gulped down a 10 inch Shad, we seldom use anything but large dead baits, if I target Channels then normally I'll use smaller pieces of bait say 1/2 to 1 inch pieces.
I know that those Channels are vicious at Oshay because they lay down a rod in nothing flat, I like that because circle hooks are deadly on them, both fish were hooked in the top of the mouth, we suspend the baits under my Doctor bobbers so that tells me that they come from underneath and gulp them down...............Doc |

Sorry or the delay guys. Just finally finished celebrating the victory, LOL!!!!!
No been one hectic week with the holiday and all. I gotta give credit to my girlfriend. She got he night started hot. I missed a few, but we were never off the fish all night, just couldn't get any biggins. April ended up catching five including a little flathead and I ended up catching 7. We did one drift down south and then we anchored up the rest of the night. Can't wait to get out there and let some big live baits sit for a while. I too would love to bring a big flattie back to weight in, but it is going to take a little patience and sacrifice on overall number of fish caught. It was reassuring to see Aprils 1.5 lb flattie though. That's the 3rd one this year.
Dave and Rick you guys better get back out there. I've been feelin pretty confident in my skills lately. Let's put them to the test. The win was god, but not as good as if the defending champs were there, LOL.
Thanks to all the 15teams that came out and congrats to all of the winners. See you at the next one. |
