Didn't have to go to work Friday, so I fished Thursday night, solo. Did ok. Finally got the Navionics chip to work in the new depth finder - can't wait to see the results in actual use... I had problems getting the chip to work 'cause the Lowrance needed an update from the Lowrance website.
Pain in the butt, but everything appears to be fine now that I'm updated.
After I purchased the unit from Cabelas ON SALE I found more negative information on that particular unit on Walleye Central than I cared to see.
-guess that's probably why the price was reduced.
Good luck to all tonight - and may the Fish Godz smile down on Me and Muskeye - I need the money. |

After all the updates new chips, still no luck. I took my 334c and my Navionics chip to Gander Mt (west) and checked the chip, first. worked fine in the 522 display model. Then I plugged my 334 into their wiring and had their resident expert, Paul test it. The unit froze up like always. The chip was fine, the unit - not so fine.
I called Lowrance and went through the whole story, and got a return authorization, but I didn't want to spend the summer wondering when they would get it back to me. SO I called Cabela's and cried the blues. It had been exactly 60 days since purchase.
I decided to upgrade to the newer 522c. Cabelas had it to me in 2 days. The 522c transducer and wiring are the same as the 334, so they sent me a complete new unit, and I have to send them back the 334 head with the 522 wiring. That way I don't have to rewire everything. Tried it out last night, and it works great. New unit took the Navionics Hot map chip instantly.
As it turned out, there was tons of information on the 334c on other sites. If I had done a little more research, I most likely wouldn't have bought that unit in the first place. Live and learn. |
